Service Description

Nitya is delighted to be sharing her style of teaching at Zen Studio. Having focused on in depth meditation and Kirtan (devotional chanting) for many years. It is now time to bring the depth of these practices to the embodied practice of yoga asana. Asana can be translated as abiding - most people think of asana as the “movements” of yoga when actually asana represents the ability of the practitioner to stay still and this stillness is a powerful practice. Nitya's yoga teacher foundation was in Dru Yoga - an inclusive style of yoga based on Hatha Yoga with roots steeped in traditional yoga values and techniques. Including energy block release sequences to encourage flow and balance. She has also trained in Vinyasa Yoga and Hatha Yoga. Nitya's approach to yoga asana practice is meditative and with a sense of ease and flow, and often includes a long restorative relaxation. Classes will include some meditation, relaxation and an invitation into each moment with presence and awareness supporting you to relax, increase energy levels, reduce stress and improve sleep. Learning to bring stillness and presence even to the busiest of lives. Nitya's classes are inclusive and suitable for all levels. They are a space where we can meet ourselves as we are in each moment. There is no 'perfect posture' or goal, rather an unfolding of a presence of body and mind that can influence the whole of our lives.
